What could be more fun than reading great stories with young children?

Reading is a crucial fundamental skill and a key to success in our society. The inability to read - illiteracy - severely limits a person's chance to have a successful life. Throughout history, Jews have shared strong educational values, a love for books and reading and have used those values to transmit traditions and Torah to each generation. A love of reading and strong commitment to tikkun olam – repairing the world-  are combined in this literacy program to help young children become successful in school and to use education as a means to a better life

In TELEM's Literacy track, TELEM tutors will have the opportunity to share their love of books and reading with young children who are learning to read. Before long, TELEM tutors become a role model, teacher and friend to a young person.  Tutors gain the great satisfaction of helping a young person learn to read and to love books. TELEM literacy tutors offer their students an important opportunity to improve their reading skills and to develop a lasting love for reading.
