We are extraordinarily proud to have made it possible for over 6,000 Jewish teens in the Boston area to have participated in one or more of TELEM’s programs. Our gratitude is extended to all who have helped make this program’s successes possible: from our generous funders and supporters to our partners in synagogues, religious schools, and youth groups, to our service partners who welcome our teens into their organizations and missions, to the parents who entrust their children to join our programs and finally to the teens who passionately take on the work as volunteers in social justice to help repair the world.
As we look back to our very first year, we are thrilled to have grown from 9 partnerships and 257 teens, to our current 28 partnerships and over 800 participants annually. Along the way, we developed new program models such as B’nai TELEM for 6th and 7th graders and added new service tracks such as Environmental Sustainability. Our expanded participation and program options have changed the landscape of teen Jewish service-learning in Boston and made our programming accessible to thousands of area Jewish teens.
We couldn’t have done it without you, and we thank and celebrate our shared success with you!
In this, our first enewsletter of the year, we hope you will enjoy reading our featured stories about some outstanding people and programs that exemplify the impact of TELEM: our most recent Fran Litner TELEM Service Award winner, our August service trip to New York, a TELEM volunteer’s high school valedictorian speech about his experience in our literacy corps and a fond farewell to a longtime TELEM coordinator.
Throughout the year, be sure to keep in touch about TELEM events and programs on our facebook page Facebook.com/telemyouth or on twitter @Telemyouth
Best wishes to you and your loved ones for a sweet, peaceful and joyous New Year!
