Shalom TELEM Friends and Colleagues.

Wow does time fly by! It is hard to believe it’s now time to light the Chanukah candles and heat up the frying oil! But here we are in December and the TELEM year is now in full swing!

I am thrilled to offer you this welcome to another year of TELEM programming.  As TELEMyouth (for 8th -12th grade students) enters its eighth year and B’nai TELEM (for 6th and 7th grade students) begins its fifth, we’re blessed to have so many partners who make the program as engaging, enjoyable and meaningful for TELEM participants and people they work with. We’ve heard great news from both new and veteran partnerships that are now in both learning and service.  With multiple service visits under their belts, TELEMyouth participants are finding their groove in service.  And our B’nai TELEM program is strong and thriving and with a newly revised curriculum to make classroom sessions more interactive and accessible for all participants.

In this newsletter, the TELEM team wants to welcome you and tell you about a few new innovative TELEM programs we’ve recently launched. Emily Reichman, our TELEM Program Manager will write about our new and very exciting Environmental Sustainability track.  Shoshana Czik, our TELEM Coordinator, will tell you about a new regional TELEM program model in the South Area that brings several TELEM synagogue partners in to a new model of collaboration.

For me, each year it is a deep pleasure and honor to welcome new B’nai TELEM and TELEMyouth partnerships. This year our outreach efforts have brought an amazing nine new programs from all around the Greater Boston area to the TELEM family! Those new partners and programs are:

Congregation Eitz Chaim, Cambridge B'nai TELEM and TELEMyouth
Congregation Sha’aray Shalom, Hingham TELEMyouth
Kesher Community School, Newton B'nai TELEM
Temple Beth Am, Framingham B'nai TELEM and TELEMyouth
Temple Beth Avodah, Newton B'nai TELEM
Temple Israel, Sharon TELEMyouth
Temple Kehillah Israel, Brookline TELEMyouth

With so many new partnerships and initiatives happening in TELEM, this looks to be an exceptional year for us all. In addition, the TELEM staff team is looking forward to working with our partners to make this the best year yet!

Let us know how TELEM is having an impact on you, your family and your community!
