TELEM is a program for all Jewish teens in greater Boston. Sign up through your synagogue, Prozdor (if you're a student there), or through JCC's Teens for Tzedek program. Through any of these organizations, you will participate in a community service track. In addition to doing valuable community service, your group will come together regularly to learn about social justice and Jewish values related to helping others.
Though scheduling varies somewhat among groups, the minimum commitment is 4-8 hours of service a month and 2-4 hours of learning and reflection a month. Groups meet weekly after school or bi-weekly on Sundays, either for one semester or a full year. Your organization will work with you on your schedule. Most of our programs take place within the structure of synagogue after-school program times. Your work at service sites also can count towards other community service obligations.
As a TELEM participant, you're part of a larger network of hundreds of students in the Boston area committed to Jewish social action and justice. You can connect with your peers, share stories and pictures, and talk about your experiences on our new Facebook page.
